The master files for the Early Dutch Books Online project are delivered in JPF, a version of JP2. This decision was based on the desire to scan the pages in greyscale or colour. In addition to master files, many other derivative files are supplied that are necessary for the website, such as text files in XML format, smaller JP2 files for images and PDF files to display entire books/documents. The master files will be permanently stored in the E-Depot of the Koninklijke Bibliotheek.
Early Dutch Books Online is a project that has unlocked over 2 million unique pages of varying size. This unique historical source in digital format is available for research into various aspects of the culture of the late eighteenth century.
